Designed as a natural extension of the home, The Evergreen’s outdoor entertaining zone brings together structure, texture, and restraint, resulting in a space that feels refined and deeply connected to its surroundings.

To begin with, polished concrete floors anchor the space, establishing material continuity and a sense of permanence. Meanwhile, the slatted roof above filters light and shadow, casting subtle movement across surfaces throughout the day. As daylight fades, integrated downlights and a ceiling fan allow the space to perform as beautifully at night as it does in the afternoon sun.

At the centre of the design, a stepped chimney introduces quiet architectural rhythm. Rather than enclosing the area, it subtly defines zones, maintaining openness while also creating structure. In addition, our team carefully resolved every proportion and junction, from material transitions to spatial alignment, thereby creating a cohesive space that connects effortlessly to the garden beyond.

Designed with entertaining in mind, the outdoor kitchen balances warmth and precision. Oak cabinetry introduces natural texture, which we then offset with black detailing and waterfall ends on a light, muted benchtop. Furthermore, we integrated a single sink, underbench wine fridge, and built-in BBQ to preserve clean lines and uninterrupted flow. Throughout the design, we maintained deliberate, restrained detailing, allowing functionality to sit comfortably within the broader architectural intent.

Finally, at the heart of the space, the bagged brick fireplace anchors the outdoor room. The stepped rear detail forms the chimney, introducing depth and soft shadow lines that together elevate the brickwork. At the same time, its softened texture contrasts with the crisp geometry of the slatted ceiling and polished concrete floor, creating balance through material dialogue. Ultimately, the fireplace does more than provide warmth – it anchors the entertaining zone with calm and permanence, a functional element resolved with clarity and intention.
