Our Process

A collaborative design & build process

With our Nest Built team all under one roof, we work collaboratively and efficiently to provide our clients a seamless end to end experience. From initial concept development through to projection completion we strive to understand our clients' individual priorities and are considerate of budget, timing, as well as the all-important design outcome.
Our team collaborates with a select group of trades and craftspeople who are passionate and proud of their work.
We are focused on the relationship and connection between you and your home - creating carefully considered spaces, designed and built in the Nest Built style.

Step 1.

Getting to know you and your home
Eloise and Chris will visit you at your home to discuss plans and ideas for your space and ensure we understand the brief. They will talk through our approach, provide guidance and answer any questions you may have about our Nest Built process from initial concept through to design and building. Following on from our meeting we will tailor a design fee proposal for your consideration.

Step 2.

Concept design & cost estimate
The next part of the journey is meeting with our Architect, Zelda and preliminary concept designs will begin with our team.
Our design considerations:
– Responding to the site and existing home and surroundings.
– Architectural outcome, inspirations and aesthetics that you are drawn to.
– Your budget.
Once a concept is resolved, a preliminary cost estimate is prepared and presented to you by our estimating team.

Step 3.

Design development & approvals
Having finalised a concept, we issue design fees for the next stage and prepare all the necessary documents to formally lodge for council planning approvals (if required).
In collaboration with external consultants including engineering and surveyors, the detailed architectural working drawings then begin. Interior design is resolved, and material selections are made, both internally and externally ensuring the design language is consistent throughout the project.
From these detailed documents, we will seek to obtain certification final council approval.
During this time, we run a comprehensive tender process and finalise trade pricing in order to present you with a fixed price contract for construction.

Step 4.

The Building Phase
After all selections have been made, final council approval has been granted and the fixed price contract signed, construction can commence.
In line with our collaborative process, site meetings will be held regularly with you and our Project Manager, Tom. These meetings are aimed at keeping everyone informed of on-site progress and ensuring that detailed design decisions can be viewed and discussed. Problem solving is inherent in our work and we are adaptive and responsive when challenges arise, always prioritising on the best outcome for the project.

Step 5.

Your completed home / space
On completion of all work, you will be met at your new home for an official project handover. Our team will provide you with instructions for on-going requirements, warranties and final trade certificates.
Following handover there is a three-month maintenance period for you to enjoy your new space. At the end of the 3 months, you will be contacted regarding any maintenance items that may require adjustment or attention.
We will review the items and coordinate any relevant suppliers or trades to attend to the outstanding items at a convenient time and date with you.
